Edelweiss: Raumschiff Edelweiss – Please let the music play while you read this prologue.

Welcome and greetings, dear visitor!

May I set the stage? I will show you a project. Come, follow me into this world to see it! And may I introduce myself? I am Yodel, Master of Wisdom and extreme Wittery.

Welcome to this new website of joy, refreshment, wisdom, science, knowledge, society, science fiction and fantasy. Why does it need a new website for this? Because it’s new! And it’s from Germany, the country where the world’s biggest science fiction series comes from.

Hey! Laugh it up, fuzzball! Have you never heard of “Perry Rhodan”? The series started in 1961 in Germany, and it’s still running. Over 2,800 episodes, numerous books, audio dramas and one feature film have been released since then. So there!

And the nice music from the video above also comes from Germany. So there!

That’s the reason, why we want to spread yet another German project all over the world: “The Phantastic Project”! And this is the English speaking section, ASTROCOHORS IV (“IV” stands for “International Version” – clever, huh?).

This project originally started in 1985, celebrating it’s 30th birthday on this very date. And you are witnessing the launch of the INTERNATIONAL VERSION. So be proud, and like us on Facebook. Or follow us on Twitter. Or just subscribe to this website.

Whatever you do – do it NOW! Don’t wait!

And have fun!

But first subscribe! Then have fun!

This website will have articles with video as well as written articles with highly interesting stuff. But to begin, wie start with a little period of retrospective to bring you into this strange, new world. Or old world. Depends on the point of view.

The following weeks will be a look back on great inspirations, before we start right into THE FUUUUTUUUUUREEEEE! (…ture… ture… ture…)

And for the celebration of our big day we now play just another video (from Germany!!!) to please you:

In this first episode we get a glimpse of Jarmo Dorak as he’s searching for the Wind Harp. He hopes to finde the Cube of Knowledge. Well, who doesn’t? But this story has just begun….

This space for rent!

Excitement was going around in the Headquarter of ASTROCOHORS. An Invention had been made. From now on they say it would be much easier to store the history of the agency. To bring up reports. But this happy message was almost undermined by the not good News of the day: Another shuttle had landed on the facility. An emergency shuttle. Officers of ASTROCOHORS were brought back in after they got injured somewhere out in the galaxy.

Wikipedia – (Listeni/ˌwɪkɨˈpdiə/ or Listeni/ˌwɪkiˈpdiə/ wik-i-pee-dee-ə) is a free-access, free content Internet encyclopedia, supported and hosted by thenon-profit Wikimedia Foundation. Those who can access the site can edit most of its articles. Editors are expected to follow the website rules.[6]Wikipedia is ranked among the ten most popular websites[5] and constitutes the Internet‘s largest and most popular general reference work.[7][8][9]

The History of Wikipedia formally began with the launch of Wikipedia on Monday 15 January 2001 by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger; however, its technological and conceptual underpinnings predate this. The earliest known proposal for an online encyclopedia was made by Rick Gates in 1993,[2] but the concept of a free-as-in-freedom online encyclopedia (as distinct from mere open source or freemium)[3] was proposed by Richard Stallman in December 2000.[4]

Crucially, Stallman’s concept specifically included the idea that no central organization should control editing. This “massively multiplayer” characteristic was in stark contrast to contemporary digital encyclopedias such as Microsoft Encarta, Encyclopædia Britannica, and even Bomis‘sNupedia, which was Wikipedia’s direct predecessor. In 2001, the license for Nupedia was changed to GFDL, and Wales and Sanger launched Wikipedia using the concept and technology of a wiki pioneered in 1995 by Ward Cunningham.[5] Initially, Wikipedia was intended to complement Nupedia, an online encyclopedia project edited solely by experts, by providing additional draft articles and ideas for it. In practice, Wikipedia quickly overtook Nupedia, becoming a global project in multiple languages and inspiring a wide range of other online reference projects.

And this all happened through the inspiration of science. May the light of science burn on and bring brightness to darker places.
